I just saw this 427 listed for sale somewhat near where I live if anyone is interested. Not sure why why they are selling it but it looks to me like in one of the pictures near the #8 cylinder it appears to resemble JB Weld but pictures can be deceiving.

It's hard to know for certain in photos but those cylinder walls look awful shiny for an engine with less than 100 miles on it. And again, photos make it hard to tell, but it kind of looks like the wear in the walls is very irregular. Sort of like the walls are unstable. It's nowhere near me, but certainly worth looking at.

Gerry P. I agree that something is not right about it but hard to tell from photos alone.

As saying goes "buyer beware". Always hard to tell anything from pictures, but looks like some dark spots near top of bores. Most likely was honed without a torque plate. Is a lot of carbon on piston tops too. I'd want to know why it was pulled. A 427 block you have to inspected and at least magged. This one is an early block 63 or 64.

Yep it better have been cast in late '62 or early '63 with those upper water passages in the deck. I asked the seller for the casting date.
