Does a toploader for a Galaxie/Fairlane mount the shifter in the same position as a T-10 for the same cars ??
This would be for a 65 F100 ..... going to sell my Fairlane T-10 and buy a wide ratio top loader
Also, would the T-10 shifter fit the top loader ??.... it is a Hurst with stop bolts and in good shape
Been so many years I cant remember ...

Ricky I recently pulled a 64 Fairlane T10 and factory shifter from a friend's 61 FE Starliner and replaced with a toploader and Hurst. The Galaxie Hurst shifter is the same between T10 and Toploader, but a different installation kit (rods, levers).

I have never owned a T10, but have had a number of Toploaders, and I always thought the T10 had reverse to the left and down, while my Toploaders were over and up. So is it just that the reverse lever on the trans points down on a T10, and up on a Toploader, or is the actual shifter body different?

Rory the Galaxie T10 reverse is over and up just like with a Toploader.

I used the Hurst from my T10 on the toploader in the hotrod
Just ordered a mounting kit from summit to save time........
So they sent me the leftover junk from some dark corner
I had to make the mountingkit my self the night before i had to drive
It to a carshow

I replaced the original t-10 in a 63 gal with a 66 big i/o top loader and the shifter location was exactly the same. Both had their original Ford shifters. Fairlanes have a shorter tailshaft, so I can't help you if that is what you have.

T10 and Toploaders share the same Hurst shifter but have different rods for a Galaxie with toploader tailhousing C4AR-7A040-A Good site for Hurst shifter info and kits ShifterDoc.com
