On my new 427 build I have a Mallory Unilight that has a bronze gear Its a very low mile unit I got from some one here a while ago. I need to put a cast gear on it for the factory cam. I checked Holley/Mallory website and found a 29420 gear, it lists it fitting several engines. I guess the question is are the ford gears the same between the engine familys? Summit shows the same gear but does not show it fitting the FE.

They are not the same between all families, but you can use a 351C distributor gear. Just depends on the shaft diameter of your distributor.

The O.E.M. style 351C gear will work if one happens to have an aftermarket distributor for their FE engine that presents a .531" shaft dia., but most FE units are of .467" dia. (sleeves have been used previously for this 8) ), but also realize that the after market of the past has introduced .490" and .500" diameters also (maybe even others? :-\ ). Hence, particularly with after market units, one must measure the shaft diameter of ones' distributor before one leaps. ;)
