I was wondering if anyone is using Cerakote for anything? I was considering some of their finishes for engine parts, I haven’t used their products for anything. My dad seems really impressed with their stuff, he’s even used it to restore plastic parts. They have a very large color selection now.

I have it on my HK MP5. I haven't had any issues with it coming off a hot barrel or around the suppressor. I haven't used it on any engine components.

Used on a lot of firearm projects and have 1 set of valve covers and it seems to hold up fine on the valve covers but they don't have any real time on them yet.

I had a few firearms Cerakoted. I have considered it on car parts, but typically it has a satin or flat sheen to it. There are a few Cerakote options that can be polished to a nice finish but it is a lot of work.
On the surface, the stuff is pretty much impervious to any damage except for what would remove the substrate (meaning, if it would gouge the underlying material, the coating isn't going to survive anyways). If I was doing a 4x4 or Baja/trophy build, I'd be coating everything in Steel-IT and Cerakote for sure.
