Post by: turbohunter on October 03, 2020, 07:27:36 AM
This popped up in my early morning search.
Made me think of Hipopinto’s deal.
I did not know about this gentleman.

Brings back memories. My uncle bought a 83 turbo coupe T bird he paid extra to get a/c delete and roll up window. Egr delete and a Dana rear with 4.11 and a garrett turbo and a computer recalabration by Ryder and that thing ran 12.65 and got 25 miles to the gallon. Boy was that fun to drive.

I have an acquaintance in TN that has a really fast 4 banger in a Foxbody.  Runs a Doug Nash I prepped for him.  He's gone in the 9's with it, though it's been parked for a few years now.

Good friend bought a new '83 Tbird, also with few options.  Ran good for what it was stock(with added intercooler), 15.2's.  We cut it up in about 1992? and back halfed it.  It currently has a 750hp SBF/Liberty 5 spd and has run 9.01 @ 150 mph.  His favorite claim : to this day, the wipers have never, ever been turned on.

Battle Star

That is Matt Culpepper

His car is awesome!

The Lima world is pretty small but everyone knows everyone

He and Bob Myers race manuals and they both do an amazing job shifting!!

Watching those crazy turbo bombs go down the track is amazing to see

About ten years ago in Reno at the Hot August Nights drags at Stead airbase there was a powder blue early Pinto with a turbo 2.3 that was pretty fast. I think from Bay area California. It was a street car, drove in the evening cruises and saw it all over the place that week.

Yup, Matt.  I met him through Yellowbullet I think?   He was having issues with his Nash so he sent it to me and I got it all fixed up for him.  I met him in person a few years back when he brought the car up to Norwalk for the Ford event.  I've had quite a few guys ship me Nash stuff to fix from all over country.

"Whoever buys it isn't going to race it"  That would be a shame, personally.
