Just was thinking I would use my Holley street dominator intake for my next build. I want to build a 390 torque engine for my Bronco II. What rpm range was that intake rated for? I see it is an open plenum design, would I be better off with a duel plenum with an uncut divider? Also which heads are best for low rpm torque numbers? Thanks guys

The Holley Street Dominator is an excellent intake, but not really well suited for low RPM power; powerband is probably 3000-6000 RPM on a 390. I think you'd be better off with a dual plane intake, like an Edelbrock Performer.

were originally designed for cars, trucks and Recreational Vehicles in the midst of the first gas crunch/lackluster looser OEM engine performance emissions era. If that's so the small intake runners, steps at head/intake and even the horse collar in the plenum were all intended to trick the single plane into running like a dual plane by upping velocity and providing anti-reversion.
I built a F150 w 351M w/ RV cam, exhaust and a 500CFM Holley 2V and as funds permitted I finally bolted on a Street Master after 10,000 miles... I know it was the final step-up but that intake completely changed the motor night and day for the better and it even out low-ended the stock intake. The Port Size difference was blatent against the 351M/Cleveland 2V heads.

Kinda narrow rpm window and useless for me as if I build a smaller displacement FE like 360 or 390 it will be an idle to 5000 engine. I will be looking for high velocity and was planning on using my 390 four barrel 1.25/1.785 port heads with some slightly bigger valves and a little cleanup and match to the intake is all. Is there an intake that has a port cast that small? My Edelbrock gasket is quite a bit larger at the bottom.

The Performer 390 intake has smaller port sizes, 1.75" X 1.00". Should match up to your heads pretty well.

Great that will work thanks Jay
