Title: Galaxie Headers

Hey all

I currently run mad dog headers

They fit and look great

The trouble is they go under the crossmember

With ant more than 2 people in the car they can drag

What other options are there?

You probably want to let people know what model year Galaxie you have.

You should try dropping the front of your car from like 4ft in the air and see what happens to those front pipes....LOL!!!! :-\

Been there, done that.    ;D

How low does the car sit?  What part is hitting?  The pipes or the collector? Both? Mine sitting on the bump stops will drag the front pipes in certain situations.

Since they are so mashed up over the years, I'm going to remake those front pipes and raise them about 1-2" so they are much closer to the crossmember and gain some much needed clearance.

I used the Hooker 6130 headers on my 1966 LTD, they didn’t have any ground clearance issues. One pipe that was closest to the power steering box needed a little clearance no, otherwise they were easy to fit.

The collector and the front will drag when cracking down the road and hitting a dip or a bump

If you cross railroad tracks you must go very slow or the hit

Any suggestions?

Overall they are great units

Does your car sit a bit low?  Short tires on it?  Need new springs up front?

Actually it has a “perfect” stance in my mind!

I have 2007 “bullet” mustang factory wheels on it and a 2” lift in the rear over stock

It has stock suspension with new springs, and all new bushings

I did have an adjustable pan hard bar so it would center the lifted rear back up

I just love the rake it has and it’s awesome to drive

Maybe add a better snubber for front suspension?

Just curious at this point

My headers hit on speed bumps until I got taller front tires.  If you have modern Bullet wheels with low profile tires it sounds like that wouldn't be something you want.  I have a different combo entirely.  2" Crites headers in a '67 Cougar.   Just mentioning what worked for me, taller tires.  An inch can make all the difference.
