Guys,
I use the street/strip clutch and pressure plate made by McLeod with Alum/Kevlar dual surface disc. It's got organic on pressure plate side and Alum/Kevlar on the flywheel side. I have 40% wear on the clutch disc and the pressure plate looks brand new. My old 390 flywheel has a significant wear groove in it. I think it is cast. It was bought new 35K miles ago.
The new Ford Racing flywheel I'm using with the 410ci is billet steel. Will the billet flywheel hold up better on this build? The reason I'm asking is that the cast flywheels I've had in the past didn't seem to wear this much. I'm replacing the clutch disc with the same McLeod Alum/Kevlar disc because I really liked it. I was chirping tires at 70mph with 270 hp so I think it's a good pressure plate / clutch disc combination. Jim

A steel part is inherently more wear resistant than cast iron due to the porosity of the metal. Also the steel is harder of a surface so your clutch will last longer too.
