I broke a piston or something here at Great Bend. Anyway it’s knocking pretty good. Already headed home on the tow rig
-
I hate when that happens! My condolences on your motor. At least you were out there trying.
-
wow sorry Alan that blows.
-
Sorry to hear that. I hope it is not as bad as it sounds.

Curious as to when it happened, during the drive or making a pass at the track.

Dang that sucks :(
I watched your run and thought the car looked like it was on a good run, but you couldn't read the times and the announcer went on and on about the 14 second camaro in the left lane >:( I didn't see any smoke or anything at the end of the run. Sorry to hear your out.

I think whatever is wrong may have started on the first drive. At Tulsa Sunday that thing was singin' I had never felt it pull so hard before. Then at Topeka it lost almost 1/2 and then another .10 at Noble. My first pass at Great Bend it was struggling to make the shift point(6400) in second gear and ran a 12.24 I made some carb adjustments and on my second pass it ran a 12.54 and it did not reach the shift point in second and was hammering pretty good on the return road. I suspected something might be up last night at the motel when I did my mid-event ritual of checking the plugs and running the rockers. With the plugs pulled the motor was really hard to turn over by hand with an 18" ratchet. I eventually passed it off on the resistance of the Dove rocker assemblies after I removed them and the motor rolled over easier. So something may have been up then. Also a few times it really pulled the starter down on a hot restart but I thought the starter may have been hot but now maybe it was trying to tell me something was up. I'll dive in to it soon as I am curious as to what happened too.

Sorry to hear Alan, sounded like a healthy combo. It will be interesting to see what you find
-
Sorry to hear that Alan, I know how disappointing that can be. Let us know what you find, hopefully it will steer you to a more solid combination.

Sorry to hear about that, lunched the motor in the dragster last race so I feel your pain, truely. But as in your 2nd post, I'm breaking out the backup door car. Put some of the parts off the dragster motor on that one, and the alcohol carb, see if we can get it to run this Friday for our weekend race. Down - but not out!

I hate to hear that. I hope it’s not hurt too bad.

its great to see a nice ford powered mustang making the effort to race it and drive it!it takes a lot of hard work to make that happen for most people.and by the way, your car was bad ass as well!that pontiac had a big block and a turbo to move that whale!
