Post by: AlanCasida on September 01, 2020, 08:37:25 PM
A bunch of Ford stuff and cars. Funny, I didn't know the guy or ever see any of his stuff out and about.

Wow! How did you not know this guy lol. Better dig up some jars can't imagine most of it will bring anywhere near what it's worth.

Damn that guy had some stuff. Good news is, I no longer feel like a hoarder. Bad news is it's so far away. Maybe that's good.

Ya gotta love the mid-west. Only thing is are those pesky tornadoes.

Yes, but it is those tornadoes that help to keep midwest towns clean.  Helps to have God's Vacuum cleaner come through every few decades and force a good cleanup / rebuild.  My little town up in the Northwest corner of Minn-e-sota is alot nicer after getting flooded in '96 and again in '97.  Forced the powers that be to make some tough decisions that ended up with a much stronger and more vibrant community in the long run.  Yeah, those two Aprils sucked though.

I was in the neighborhood this morning so I decided to go up to the auction and check it out. Today it was memorabilia and cars.  I could care less about the memorabilia garbage but i was curious about the cars. Especially since there was a really clean '55 T-bird roller there that I missed on the sale bill. Well the car prices varied from about right to insane. The about right was the 1969 390 4 spd Mustang fastback for $32,000 to the insane 1994 F150 with rust bubbling on the fenders for $7500. The 1988 Brocno brought a really high $10,000 too. The Boss 302 went for $38,000 which I guess was a deal for someone. The 66 Fairlane Gt 390 went for $23,000 and the Pantera for 50K. The T-bird roller went for $9500 which was about double what I would have given. Tomorrow is car parts and that looks like an all day deal too. Nothing I want so I think I'll pass. Looking at all that stuff really kind of drove home the futility of collecting for the sake of collecting. Some stuff I understand but having 1/2 a dozen Lakewood driveshaft loop kits new in the box? Or probably 25 come-alongs? Another on that really struck me was the 1996 Cobra convertible. He had bought it new and it had 1100 miles on it and was never titled. It was parked before the 30 day tag expired. And it was not like he was saving it as an investment. They said when they got there to assess all the stuff it had so much dust on it they didn't know what color it was. With an open title and bill of sale it went for $17,000! It really makes me want to reassess and prioritize what I have and what makes me happy.

Considering the Cobra sold new for over $27k, that would have been a lousy investment..lol

At least all the cars and stuff were stored inside. I've seen plenty of both that rusted to nothing, all because they were gonna do something with it "some day".

Know plenty of those guys. Turns my stomach to let those cars rust back into the ground.
