For sale 391 steel crank - SoCal area $850 + shipping
Recently finished machined and nitride for FE use by Castillo's in La Mirada, CA.
Stroke 3.99, Rod Journal BBC std. 1.90 width, mains -.010.
Reason for sale - I found out that the balance cost was going to be excessive using a NHRA mandated rotating assembly weight for a stock eliminator 428. The bob weight was 2207.
The crank will balance at a much lower cost using light weight rods & pistons (I do not have an estimated cost for that, it's up to you)

Was the crank snout turned down to standard FE dimensions?

Yes, 1.375 diameter

Mike you should keep the crankshaft and use it. NHRA never looks at the balance.

If a guy had a 4.350 bore block with that crank would be a lot of fun for a open stock pulling truck with a set of high riser heads... and a 1030 three barrel carb..

I just need a big bore block lol

I thought Stock Eliminator had to use factory rods or only certain part numbers of aftermarket rods that have stock length and journal size. Has that changed?

There are specific NHRA “accepted” rods that have the BBC rod journal size.

There are numerous rods available for factory journal cranks but only one crower rod for the BBC dimensions. There is a minimum weight for the piston and rod assembly that also needs to be maintained and that’s why my 391 crank is for sale. If I put the balancing cost toward a new Scat crank and sell the steel 391 I actually save money. If I don’t sell it I figure I can keep it and use it for playing outside of stock eliminator. Maybe something with Jays new heads.

Crank still for sale, inflation has not affected the price, yet :)
