When I brake hard in my 62 3x2 Galaxie the motor almost dies and if I do an emergency stop it does die. I'm thinking a set of whistles on the bakward mounted carbs would cure the problem. Anybody think this is wrong or has another cure?
Thanks!

It has been so long, I'm not sure if Ford originally used a dashpot on the 3X2 setup. Many engines did have them to prevent the engine from dieing when the throttle snaps shut. The whistles may work but.....I don't ever remember seeing them on 2 bbl carbs. If your float levels are good and the fuel pressure isn't too high, a dashpot may be the way to go.

Ha! I had EXACTLY that same problem with my tripower setup on my '68 Shelby back in the early 1980s. The vent whistles did cure the problem on my car.

Thanks! I'll check to see if I have three in my Holley junk box. Man that was quick on the replies!!

Are the float levels all good? Original 3X2 carbs had a different float level sight plug location for the center carb - do you have that and are the correct bowls in the correct location or maybe they got mixed up and the center bowl is on one of the end carbs? Just thinking out loud on other possible causes.
