Title: 66 Comet/Fairlane front end weight
Post by: Jim Comet on January 25, 2013, 10:23:37 AM
Does anyone have an idea of what the front of there 66/67 Comet or Fairlane weighs? I should have weighed the front of my car before I cut out he shock towers and built the new suspension. Now it is time for me to buy new coil over shocks and springs. I understand there are a lot of variables but I just need a ball park figure as I assume I will end up buying a second set of springs either firmer or softer after the car is complete and assembled and I see how it sits and launches. I have an all iron 390 except the intake and a C6 trans. I will be using a fiberglass front bumper and fenders although the hood will remain steel. Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance. Jim

If you look at your tech specs as equipped under GVR they state F& R weights. Should be on the door tag also.

I'd start at 3700ish lbs stock.
Probably a 60 40 split.
Although they take to dieting very well.
The bumper alone shaves near 50 lbs.

FYI Jon
It does not list the weight on the door tag.
Here's the tag on my 67 500 GT.

I know they show in the tech listing under specifications. I can't read my tag the writing is too small LOL. They also show dry weight and track width. I have to stay with steel bumpers so I can drive it on the street or road race track. Glass means drag strip only.
