I have had short and long yokes
All of them I have seen were shorter or longer from the nut to the end of the yoke where the u-joint goes I believe
The short yoke u-joints were closer to the end of the pinion shaft
The long yoke u-joints were farther away from the end of the pinion shaft

I used calipers so the figures are close but not exact

The 3.25 is 3.460 from the pinion support to the end of the yoke where the u- joint goes
The 3.73 is 3.820 from the pinion support to the end of the yoke where the u- joint goes

The 3.25 is 3.155 from the shield to the end of the yoke where the u- joint goes
The 3.73 is 3.210 from the shield to the end of the yoke where the u- joint goes
Close enough due a shield being bent a bit or less conical

The 3.25 is 2.830 from the pinion support to the end of the pinon shaft
The 3.25 is 2.750 from the pinion support to the end of the yoke where the u- joint goes
Pretty close

I have not seen this before
I did not see it was a pulley ... lol
I have a few yokes I can use if that is all it needs or will the current yoke be ok ??
I was concerned if the part that sticks out longer would get damaged or rust
It looks nice, turns smooth, the backlash feels good as well

If the shaft spline count is correct, and the length is not too much different, it will work.
The slip joint on the transmission should absorb the difference if it is not too much.
The pulley style yokes were designed to be used with the Daytona pinion support so they stick out a bit longer than the standard style.
In stall the pulley yoke, install the oil pump and belt, and people will wonder what in the heck you have going on back there.

Both of the bearing retainers in your pictures are "standard" non "Daytona" style. The "step" in the back of the yoke is different on a standard yoke versus a Daytona yoke. The standard has a step (before the splines start) of about 3/4s in depth. The Daytona is about 3/8s.

The exposed machined area of your concern has been executed to allow the installation of the pulley, and should prove no problem for in service, except yes if the seal does not weep sufficiently oxidation will corrode the exposed surface, but not significantly differently than the standard units' similar but less sum of exposed machined surface; if of concern, add paint. ;)
One does need to use caution when encountering these types of modified components for proper original execution deviation intention, and for when mixing into other unfamiliar assemblies as there may be other changes made not initial readily apparent. :o

Yes, one of those is not a stock Ford part, or is modified. Both the stock Ford long and short yokes seat the same in a stock (C7xx) case with a standard pinion retainer and bearings. Had/have plenty of both. Both the Mustang and the Falcon needed the short yokes to use the stock drive shafts. Most of the swap meet or junk yard finds seem to have the long yoke on them.

Off topic, but just FYI. I believe the ring and pinion is a 3.75:1, not 3.73:1. 45/12 teeth. Count 'em if you want, Ricky

Was curious and appreciate the comments
The yoke is .380 longer as to the u-joint , I will check my driveshaft, pretty sure it has enough clearance to absorb the difference

I like ring and pinions with more teeth. The more teeth they have the straighter the gears and the more efficient the power transfer, I think...…
I think a 3.73 is 41/11. 3.70 is 37/10. A 3.75 is better than both, IMO. Splitting hairs? Sure, but....hairs add up. You should see my back. :)
