I'd take that turquoise Starliner...even though they abused it!     Six people in the Falcon , all with hats on. I bet that 144 was really gasping to get up to speed!

It was such a big deal when someone bought a new car. A real event. The whole neighborhood came out to see it., look under the hood and take it on a test drive and always be a little envious. Today you have no idea what year, what make, what color it is.

I technically had a '61 Futura, with a 144 engine. The day after HS, in '62, I started delivering news papers to news stands and paper racks, I got my folks Futura to do it. I had to make the payments but, it wasn't in my name.

It was a stick and I don't know what the gearing was but, it would only get to 85 mph (many times ;) ). I had it for a year and put two clutches and 2 transmissions in it. I also, scraped up the drivers side, trying to road race it. It went on to my sister and brother, after that (but they didn't have to make the payments!). It was a very strong car to go through, all that!!!
