Title: Exploring C6 to Toploader Conversion

As the title states, I'm exploring converting my 66 Galaxie C6 to a toploader--it sure would make it a helluva lot more fun to drive. I have most of the hard to find parts, pedal assembly, bellcrank and all the linkage/springs, but still need a TL, bellhousing, flywheel, shifter and install kit, console shift plate, slip yoke (if its different from C6). Of all this, it seems the console shift plate is going to be the most difficult. If anyone has any of the forementioned pieces available, please contact me. This is a street car/cruiser with a mild cam. I'm in NW Ohio and travel to Lexington, KY regularly.

If you are still considering the tranny swap, I have a few galaxie toploaders both big and small shaft , bellhousing shifter and flywheel
if youre interested I can send you pics and info

I'm in the midst of wrapping up the conversion, having scored a complete setup out of a 7Litre. It would have been nice to have a wide ratio trans, but it didn't play out that way. If you have a Hurst shifter for a 66 Galaxie with a console, I may be interested. I have a Ford shifter which I rebuilt, but a Hurst is preferred.

Out of curiosity, did you have to get a different driveshaft or did the stock length work for the top loader as well?  Thanks.

The driveshaft and slip yoke are the same as the C6 pieces.

ok, wish I would have noticed your posting earlier.
 I do have a rebuilt galaxie toploader and it was converted over to a wide ratio

i have the shifter you need.
NOS Hurst,. made exclusively  for 65-67 galaxie full size 500XL  with console
been in the box for decades
the 291-6543 kit consists of 3914103 shifter and 3734104 linkage

was saving it for a future project, but i am willing to part with it.
