Going to pull off the rockers to block the oil passages, and I looked at the instructions and I knew there was something sketchy in the instructions. Under "Final Assembly" it reads "Set valve lash to cam manufacturers specs and torque the adjuster crew jam nut to 5/20 ft-lbs".
I find this instruction, specifically 5/20 ft-lbs, to be unclear. What is the correct value?

I have never used a torque wrench on them, but the 20 would be for the nut.

and 20 would be a "lot".
The jam nut is only to keep the adjusting screw from coming loose, as it applies a load in the wrong direction for assembly strength - pulling it out of the rocker.
Guys the put some extra "oomph" on those can break adjusters and pull threads on rockers.
-
Yep, a good ole wrench and some hand pressure is all that's needed.

Thanks. I finally found the email from T&D who said the note means 5 to 20, and that most builders do 18.
In any case, I don't have the years of developing the touch that you guys have, plus the engine is in the truck so it is harder to be consistent, so I'll do 15 lbs.

I have one and believe 22 ft/lbs is the preset. Works great.
