Like the title says what works and lasts ? On my comet with edelbrocks and hedman headers I am using felpros .Just curious if they will work with the lowered exhaust ports that the c8s have .I would consider some aluminum or copper gaskets if you all have had good luck with them .Doug

I used Remflex 3008 gaskets on my D2TE heads after the standard white gaskets blew out. No issues since.

Remflex. I run them on my Shelby with the Edelbrock heads and Hooker 6114 headers. Not a leak, burn out proof and seal amazingly well. Even on irregular surfaces.

If you have a CJ header on a C8AE/D2, etc, there is nothing that will be right. Slot the bolt holes the best you can and use the gasket that matches one or the other and cross your fingers.
A stiffer gasket won't hurt, but it won't help as much as moving the port closer to where it will match

Ross the headers are flowtech for truck heads (d2-c8) I will look into the remflex and see what they have to offer for my heads .Thank you all .Doug

Completely different story, sorry, misunderstood with the other car reference
I use regular P/N 10825HKR from Hooker or 27740 from Hedman. Lube all the bolts with antiseize, tighten evenly and good and tight for a 3/8 bolt (35 ft lbs or so), and immediately after it warms up (wear gloves and long sleeves) snug them up and go.
I have never had a reason for any different gasket than that, and never had a leak over over very long periods.

Well I got my hedman gaskets #27740 they fit my c8 heads and these flowtech headers perfectly .Most gaskets I found are simply to big they didn't cover the weld beads they went over them .My guess is they make them big for the raised ex port and lowered also .They just didn't cover the weld beads used to seal my headers .Thanks Ross for the help ! My welding business is slow for now so next week I might get started on installing these headers and building an exhaust system .Be safe everyone !Doug

Good gasket for that application, glad it worked out!
