We like the new truck - however, got a notice via Ford Pass tonight, and confirmed with a lookup on owner.ford - FSA 20U04 - ENGINE REPLACEMENT. Not off to a good start, but will ask the dealer if I can keep the old motor for my race car.

SM friend found - not good.

Damn, a .50 cent piece and it's gonna cost them millions already. Worst part is that they probably don't even know if your engine is affected, but it's gonna have to come out anyway. Somebody at Ford is probably searching for a new job!

The notice comes with a list of VINs, so I think they have a good idea of what/when. It'll be two weeks before we know more for sure. The dealer, sales and SM are on it, so that helps.

PS - the VIN to our truck is 2nd to last one on the list. Dated same day we picked up the truck, so it was coming out on the fax machine about time we were driving off.
Word from the SM at the dealer is just drive the hell out of it until we get solid direction from Ford on the next steps. We're covered with regular 5 yr/60K roadside anyway, rental, trip reimbursement, etc. Thought about it - why not, put some miles on it and then if they replace the motor we get X miles for free.

Edit: Did not see you had posted the issue with piston oil cooler bracket.
Not very likely you will be able to keep the old engine as of now they have no cores for rebuild.
