Be There if You Can
-
Lots of names on there Im keeping my fingers crossed for good weather !
-
Sadly about a 55 hour drive.
-
So who is going ??? I’m going to bring the fairlane
Let’s get a list going here
-
I desperately wanted to drag my junk up there but I have Zero help. Its everything I can do just to load all my stuff up and go to a test and tune 80 miles away, unload everything by myself, do it all and load up and go home. Way to much work for one person. Let alone the 9 he drive dragging it there. I'll probably be there in the swap meet, hell that's enough work for me.
-
My plans are to be there with the 68 Colony Park. A couple friends from Connecticut are also working to get things together for the event.
-
WOW only 4 people. I thought this was a huge FE event
-
HA HA HAAaaaaa... They might still be hibernating? jk. If you haven't been, it's an awesome event. Here is a slew of videos I grouped together in a playlist. I re-live the events watching these videos on the 46" tv with the volume turned up loud.

I plan on being there. 67 Ford Country Squire Wagon

I know the guy that makes these videos says he doesnt want to make them anymore. I hope he changes his mind. Besides the fact that he does a good job like First eliminator said it gets ya through till next year.

Russ, 98% who go basically just lurk on the forums and don't post much. You may only get 10 people who respond here, but I guarantee there will be plenty of cars there, and it will definitely be worth the trip, assuming the weather cooperates.
I see that Mike, the new track owner, is updating the track with concrete walls/barriers. I know the issues that Bob had with maintaining insurance at the track without those walls, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. There have been times that no walls saved one of the cars from being mangled up. But then again, Rowdy's '58 may have been saveable if they had been there.

I wait til mid week before that weekend before committing to the trip. In reality, I should just be "committed".... :o
If yun's would see the mess I got going on right now....I'm trying to figure out why I do this?
Heads up: found out they hit water in my heads this past summer when I had them CNC'd. Got mucho grande water in the engine while sitting in the garage this winter, rusty cylinders, muck and mire in the oil pan. I've got it all apart cleaning everything, getting a quick hone job on the cylinders to clean things up and a new set of TF heads getting all my parts put in them. Ain't life grand?
-
Larry, if you need to be committed, so do all the rest of us ;D
-
Wow, Larry. That was all in your new BBM block? That sucks. Sorry to hear.

Yes like Doug and Larry I’m going also. Need to work on car but Mom fell and broke her neck so all hands on deck the past few weeks. Don’t know where she stands so I guess in all reality the reunion is up in the air for me. Sorry to hear about motor Larry what heads did you have on there. And curious how a CNC program go through a wall. I didn’t know that was possible. Maybe the TFS heads will be better. Now you have the rocker pads to contend with.

If you're thinkin' of me, I didn't put one up last year mostly due to the wind noise over my cheesy camera mic that washed out the audio. Plus I couldn't hold a steady picture with the wind shoving me around.
Add to that they were running the 1/8 mile so things were over very quickly. (I can't change my zoom that quickly, I'm no photog)
I don't mind doing them, even though there is quite a lot of editing involved to make something that isn't annoying to watch. Once I got the process started it was kinda fun, but it takes a while.
I've kinda learned to ignore a lot of the YouTube comments, it took me a while, but I can just shrug it off these days.
We'll see what this year brings, but no promises.

These were my 24 yr old Edelbrocks I bought new and had hand ported back then. I finally had a program done on them by Fox Lake(local to me). He questioned my version of the heads and he determined his program would be okay. It seemed to, at first. I had no real issues with the few races I attended at the end of the year. I just happen to try rolling the engine over a month or so back. I put a breaker bar on it and it wouldn't budge. I pull the plugs and I had water in 1,2,5,6. I thought maybe head gaskets? Nope. You could see small spots of calcium where the water droplets were dropping in the #1 intake port. Really put a hurting on my new cylinders. Nothing tragic, but bad enough I wanted to freshen it back up. The CNC job didn't hit water, it was the fact the water jackets were likely thin from all the years of running bare water. They just finally gave up.
I think it went bad after it sat for a few weeks in the trailer before I put it in the garage when it got chilly out. That night I swapped vehicles is when the water got into the oil and made a mess(I didn't check the oil after moving it). Luckily I found it now, not mid April after I put the clutch back in and tried starting it!!!
It sucks, but I consider how much worse it could have been. The biggest bill is buying the bare TF heads. Everything else I have and the clean up is only costing me some gaskets and elbow grease(lots of elbow grease).
Bill, just turn off comments and that way you don't have to listen to anyones crap!! Thanks for what you do.

Hi Bill,
I remember while back you had also mentioned not only the wind, but also a lot of other people were putting videos of the racing up as well. I gotta say some of my favorite parts of your videos were the cars driving around the pit area. If editing racing takes too long, I'd love to at least see the pit action. Thanks for posting the videos, it's a nice mental escape for me.

Interesting that you mention the pits. As much as I like the racing, I enjoy the sights and sounds of the cars and drivers getting ready, warming things up, and BSing with each other.
When I go to Lime Rock I always get there early enough to watch the teams unload, set up the cars, go through tech, and run practice laps to tweak the setup. I find it really interesting to watch.
Most cell phones these days are far better at video than my camera, and folks immediately put them up, mostly on Facebook. Lots of different perspectives in a very short time.
(I wasn't really whining about the time spent editing, just blabbing)
We'll see what the weather is like this year.
