Hi guys got a 1963 1/2 500xl with a new correct battery holder. I know it takes a group 27F battery but I can't find a decent battery that has the mounting lip molded in the case for my holder to clamp to. Any one out there that can tell me what you're using? Thanks Bud

Varta Silverline, don't know if you have them in USA

I would check with NAPA, they handle East Penn/Deka, good stuff.

I bought a Duracell for mine at batteries plus that had the proper lip for the hold down bracket. looks to be in stock locally for me.

Duracells are made by Deka, as are walmart, autozone and a ton of others. I have been buying the $49. dollar battery at walmart for years with good success.

My lately experience is that they are junk. I buy AGM batteries from Sams Club, around $170. 3 year warranty and easy exchange is all I care about. Don;t care who made it, doesn't really matter. The Sams (Duracell) AGM in the dragster is going on 4 years and has been treated badly. Hit between rounds with a conventional charger and the car is a hard tail so it gets the hell beat out of it. Both trucks have the same battery.

I know both the chief of operations and the chief of production at Deka. They take their product seriously. I like Optima, but if I were to swap, that is where I'd go

When looking for my 64 Galaxie Interstate batteries and NAPA did not have the lip. I found a Bosch branded battery that did, not sure who the manufacturer is.

Imagine firm beleiver in motorcrafta batteries. I do not know who makes them but the hold up well in my 19yr old daily driver. It gets hot here in tx.

Wow, Thanks for all the replies. I went to my NAPA store and he said he could get me a 7527F by Fri morning says it has the mounting tabs on each end. 147bucks plus an old core
Funny I was looking at 27F batteries for my application and not a single site said that it was the correct application for my Galaxie. Most said 24F. So go figure. I know a 27F will fit with the specs and measuring my new carrier. Thanks again Bud

The Deka are great batteries. I dropped the big bucks on reproduction battery for my Shelby and turning over a tight engine caused the battery to smoke.
I wound up purchasing the sealed unit from Costco and used the cover and the battery shield. It looks good and starts the engine well.

Ive had decent luck with Deka. I mostly run Interstates as Ive had the best luck with them and get a discount though work, also can buy factory blems cheap too. I keep one yellow top Optima w/top and side posts as a run around battery or for starting random things and for my off road truck. So it gets abused, its about 3 or 4 yrs old now. Last one was about 5 yrs when it I accidentally ran it over.. it didn't make it though that. lol Ive never had a red top maybe that's the difference? I have been thinking about buying one of the 6v Optimas though.

I can vouch for the Deka batteries! I would only get 1 1/2 years out of battery in my A/S Fairlane. The hard launches I think would get to it. Parts store would treat me right so I kept getting the same Delco battery. Last time they switched to Deka so I put that in 9 1/2 years ago!!! it finally went south the end of this year.
