I didn’t know him well, but I knew Ken from both of us racing many years at Brainerd International Raceway, and he was close friends with many of my good friends. He was primarily a motorcycle drag racer, and so I never raced against him that I remember, but we were at the same events, and there was usually a “hi” said as we crossed paths at the track. He was a very nice guy, and like the article said, I think he was starting to transition into watching his sons race more. We were all shocked here when we heard the news that evening that he had been killed. Give your loved ones a hug, and don’t take anything for granted, life can change in an instant.
There is a memorial for Ken this coming Saturday February 1st. afternoon/evening here in the northern Twin Cities area, in the town of Nowthen Minnesota, for anyone in the area interested in going.

All I can say is: It is best to let the police do their job in a situation like that, and hopefully they will make things right. No life is worth a stolen part. Joe-JDC

I don't see the police doing anything in a situation like this until it's too late. I had a very similar thing come up with a friend who had an expensive guitar stolen with huge sentimental value to him. He finds it in an ad on Craigslist a few months later, notifies the police and is told there is absolutely nothing they can or will do. I'm sure this racer had the same response and thought, we'll, I guess I'll have to just go get it myself.

It really depends on the area. Some will and some won't. It'd be a wise choice to at least give them the opportunity. If a thief isn't afraid to steal and then sell on an open market, then I wouldn't be surprised if he was carrying a gun when making the sale. Then things get real, real fast.
Sorry to hear about this guy, and especially for his family. I don't blame him for trying to recover his stuff though.

Its sad that south paw mentality of catch and release criminals was part of this
tragedy.Ken's dad,a long time racer, passed away a few weeks earlier.I'm sure Ken was
beyond pissed when the shop his dad started was robbed.

He should have never gone into a possible firefight without some heavy support. Just saying. I learned a long time ago, never take a knife to a gunfight, and a vehicle can be used as a deadly weapon. Joe-JDC

So What is south paw mentality suppose to mean ?

Lima Bean isn't worried about looking bad. He speaks his mind, and that's why those that know him, like him.

Probably the most southpaw state of all has one of the toughest 3-strikes law. Apparently Minnesota doesn't have one. The killer had 8 felony convictions plus 20 "license revocations" (DUI?). Just a good ol' boy? Wink wink?

I don't understand how vermin like that thief is allowed to roam free. I just hope it doesn't turn into a case of self defense baloney in favor of the thief. I can't blame the thief for trying to make a fast get away. That's what I'd do if two car loads of angry dudes were trying to corner me..especially if I was a thief..which I ain't.

Basically a Debbie Downer Drip.
I just realized I’ve had enough conversations with Steve, to understand his language.

That Pierre guy really needs more than just 40 years in jail. Most likely he'll get five years but with that record and the circumstances it should be the death penalty. If it was cops trying to block him in I doubt he'd have gotten away alive.

He will be charged with Manslaughter, and do 3 years tops.

Oh, you guys have the same judges as we do then. :/
Hopefully the bikers mourning him are like our bikers and Pierre suffers greatly for it.
That link is the Little Rascals theme song? Did I miss the urn?
