Have a mirror block that has a sleeve in one of the votes .what do the 427 guys do when the bores are thin ?Should I get the whole block sleeved to go bigger bore ?
-
My understanding is that a mirror "105" doesn't signify anything important, and it certainly doesn't indicate a 427. You need to examine the block to see if it is one of the special characteristics such as additional webbing. Blocks cast prior to around 1973 had "352" cast into them, and after that the mirror "105". The 352 didn't indicate engine displacement, and 105 doesn't indicate anything specific.
My source for this is Numberdummy on the Ford Trucks forum, who's knowledge of Ford parts is encyclopedic.
Unless you find some exceptional qualities in the examination, it probably wasn't worth sleeving the first time.

I know it’s nothing special I just like the fact that is has the 3 webbing , and I hear sleeving not a good idea but I’m sure the 427 guys have done them to there blocks .

When sleeving all 8 most go smaller not larger, due to stress on the deck. My vote is get another block if this one needs 8 sleeves. Nothing really special about a reverse 105 , and still available.

What is the bore now and where do you want it to be?
-
Reason I want to sleeve a fe block is for boost .
-
I think an aftermarket block would be my choice for an FE on boost.
What sort of power are you looking to make?

800+

Although keeping a strong bore is important, especially at those levels, I would be concerned with the main to cam casting area especially after a lot of bore work to put sleeves in works the block a little. I would seriously consider aftermarket iron, likely cheaper in the long run.
However, you could always sleeve it small, like 4.00 or less, if you really want to try, and save a little of the original casting

Pushing 800 hp through a stock block won't happen for very long.
In addition, putting $1000 worth of sleeves in a block isn't really prudent either.

Blair has said quite a few times that he would take a 427 block that couldn't be bored no more and sleeve them down to 428 bore size for a super strong 428 block , you want to go bigger so you really need a BBM block or equivalent

That kind of HP you better get a aftermarket block , stock will not handle it for long! Plus 2 with why Brent said!

Thanks everyone .
