I realize that is Father's day weekend and my truck show in Ashland. Ugh. I'm going to try to get out of my responsibility at that event so I can race. We'll see how it goes.
-
I'm counting on you and all your friends..both of them...to be there !! ;D
Hope to see you Larry.
-
How far is that from Long Island let me see.
-
Sounds interesting. Fathers Day weekend AND the summer solstice, so plenty of daylight available. I like that it's all Ford, with an emphasis on the FE. At least it won't be a 20:1 ratio of Chevy cars! I hope to be there.
Larry, when does UMTR typically post their schedule? I notice they don't even have a 2020 schedule up yet.

Two? Who's the second?? LOL!
Doug, our banquet isn't until Jan 25th, so we won't have a schedule for quite a while yet. Mike might have a few things in the works, but time will tell.
-
Any idea when more information will be posted about the classes? Also, will it be ran 1/8th or 1/4 mile? Thanks
-
There's probably not much to add. Bracket races are self explanatory; you guess your ET, then run as close to it as you can. Closest wins. Doesn't matter if you have a 9 second car up against a 13 second car, they run together. Quick 8 is exactly that, the quickest 8 cars in the field do a run-off.
Dragway 42 is a 1/4 mile track that has recently been re-done, so I see no reason why they would run 1/8 mile.
-
Look for a Flyer to be out in the next couple days. All FE classes will be 1/4 mile. ALL FORD Brkt 1 Box class will be 1/8th mile.
-
Thanks!

Flyer is out....Mark your Calendar...this is going to be a great event for our cars.

MrT put up a large picture of the flyer in the original post. Many thanks for that! And so did Kevin..lol Thanks, Kevin.

I didn't see any policy about racers staying at the track in their rigs; is that allowed? The track website covers camping for spectators on "special events", but no mention about racers staying the night.
-
Doug, Yes racers can stay in their rigs at no charge. Spectators pay $50.00 per site plus weekend pass.
P.S. I will have Flyers at the Spring Columbus Swap and Beaver Springs for those who would like some.
-
DW42 never had issues with racers staying on the ground for the most part.
Though, like that diesel drags event I went to in Nov, they mandated like $100 to camp!! Yowza. Now, I think that was the group running the weekend event, NOT DW42 itself.

A couple UPDATES:
Performance Automatic will have it's trailer at the event with C-4/C-6 experts available for trans repair and rebuild for all racers.
Confirmed from Bob "Flash" Martin that attending our event will be the National Y-Block Club. This will be their 25th Annual Y-Block Nationals and Shootout. This is COOL...!!!
Our event is the weekend before the NHRA National event at Summit Motorsports Park. Dragway 42 is 45 minutes from Summit Motorsports Park. We are inviting several Stock, Super Stock and Cobra Jet class racers to race and "test" at our event. More to come.
-
Due to Covid-19..The team has decided to cancel this event for 2020. This decision was not easy but out of respect for our racers and families, our sponsors and the spectators we felt this was the right decision. We have re-scheduled this event for the same weekend in June next year.
Thanks to all for your support and hope to see you in 2021.

How far is that from Long Island let me see.
I just checked the map, four inches! It's eight inches from here.
Too bad this virus deal has killed what was going to be a great event.
-
That stinks. The rescheduled Reunion is already out for me, due to Drag Week starting on the same weekend, and I was really looking forward to this event. Of all the public events, I would think a drag strip would be easiest to "social distance" from other people. But I understand the desire not to put people at risk, especially since most all of us FE people are getting up there in age.
-
Doug,
You are spot on.....I talked to several of our FEer'S and even some of the Y Block guy's. Most are from out of Ohio and all are very experienced.....I didn't want to say getting OLD...:). All said they were not comfortable traveling and staying in a hotel yet. Can't say I blame them...!! Not to mention the financial hardships on some and even our sponsors.
As one of my wise friends said "I want to race for years to come...not just once more". Made sense to me.....Let's all live to race another day. I just hope by September we can go to the FERR.
