Title: Wanted: 1850-2 Holley carburetor, core preferred
Post by: My427stang on December 13, 2019, 02:54:39 PM
Gang, I am looking to build a matched set of 1850-2 dyno carbs I have one, looking for another

I don't expect it to run, going to do some work inside anyway.  The idea is a decent old bone that I can make into a pair of workhorse carbs, nothing show quality wanted LOL

It's planned twin brother for reference, waiting for rebuild until I have a second

Ross, have you contacted Drew Pojedenic?  He's of course on this forum and his FB page is Air Fuel Spark.

-2’s came with universal throttle shaft and Ford throttle shaft. Which one do you have?

Hmmm..... who is this Drew guy?  LOL   I heard he may have a couple cores laying around

Drew, thanks for chiming in. I think it's the universal, but I can snap a pic if you can see it.  The reason I didn't bother you is I thought you were working, not that I am in a big hurry, but figured you had bigger fish to fry with the season and weren't on land anyway :)

I'll get a pic to be sure.

The carbs for a Ford have an automatic transmission lever just inside the lever arm that moves with the accelerator.  It has an adjusting screw that can be adjusted to time the kick-down feature of the transmission at WOT.  Easy to identify a Ford carburetor.  Joe-JDC

Joe, I’ve had a number of -2 cores that had just the basic no frills Ford throttle shaft, no kickdown, no bowl vent lever, etc. Also had a bunch with the universal lever. None appeared to have been changed.

I was just wanting to know if Ross wanted to use original style linkage or whatever.

Well, have to correct the above post, all my 1850's are either the earlier version or 1850-1's, no -2's.

If you’re still looking, I have four 1850-2’s. Date codes 0185, 0355, 0640 & 3402. All are cores, all have the universal throttle lever. I can post pictures if you’re interested in any of them, just let me know.
