I'm looking at having some rocker stand shims made in different thicknesses. These would be one piece, that would span across the entire cylinder head, supporting the end stands, locating off of the stand studs/bolts, and having holes for head fasteners.
I routinely have to make shims in .060" and .125" thicknesses, so I would offer them in those thicknesses.
Not sure on pricing as I'm still getting quotes. Obviously the larger quantity, the better the price would be.

I just got done making my own, sure would have been nice to be able to buy a set off the shelf from a vendor and skip all that fun. Having a +1/4" length stud kit would also complement the bigger shim as well.
-
I would be in for a set.

Sounds like one of those items that if it is known about, and is available, it will sell quickly for later use. A lot of parts get bought with the idea of "What if", and "next time". Just made a set with 3/16" plate. Joe-JDC

It would be nice to have some pre-made. They're easy enough to build, but for the cost of having a batch done I'd rather buy a set and use my time elsewhere.
-
I'd be in for a set. In fact I was about to post a want -to-buy looking for source.
-
I would likely be in for a set, depending on how the rocker height of my new engine ends up. I like the idea a lot.

We are gonna be at $35 a pair plus shipping. Laser cut, available in .060”, .090”, and .125”.
-
Not worth firing up the milling machine for that.
Good stuff Brent.

Ill takes a set of 60s

When do you suspect you'd have them available for purchase?
-
Several weeks. Gotta have a sample made first, then have a batch made up.
-
At that price might as well buy a set of each... they just in case factor.
-
Samples being made. If everything is approved, then it's on like Donkey Kong.
-
You just may have hit on a winner. Put me down for a pair of .060 when available.
-
I would like a set of .090" when/if become available.

do you usually shim when you use bbm heads with hs rockers on the average build?
-
Yes, I pretty much shim with every combo, except for TFS heads.
-
i bend a pushrod now and then.i bet my rockers need shimmed.i have no threads showing on the bottom of my adjusters.its almost binding.shimming would give me a little more room at this spot.im interested, and 1 piece shims sound good

Samples just showed up. Give me a bit to check them out on a set of heads and I'll let you guys know how soon we can get some. With the holidays it would probably be a couple weeks from this point. I do see one thing right off the bat that needs to change......I oil so many of my engines through the pushrods that I forgot to open up the stud hole that would feed the shafts in a traditional oiling setup. That will need changed.
-
Samples are good. Made a couple of adjustments and placed an order.

how much bigger are you making the oiling hole.it could be used to adjust oil flow to the rockers,if you dont go too big with it.it could eliminate the need for putting jets in the oiling hole

These have arrived and are in my hands now.
Anyone interested in a set, please shoot me an email: brent@lykinsmotorsports.com

Here's what we're looking at, everything seems to fit well. These are in "gauge" thicknesses, so the actual thicknesses are .060", .080", and .110". Will clear ARP bolt heads and factory bolt heads. May need slight clearancing if you're using head studs, depending on what size nuts you're using.
I have a wad here, ready to ship.

Still have some sets left on this order.

Few sets left. Will be replenishing soon.

Brent, dumb question but why did you remove so much material for the oil transfer hole? They are lazer cut so it certainly doesn't need to be a round hole. A symmetrical oval would work on both sides and leave more material to support the rocker stand. Just an observation/suggestion you can file it straight to the trash bin ;)

Logical question.
Before I had these made, I just used hardened steel valve spring shims, which have the large ID, then made up shims for the end stands. That worked for years, so I just transferred that idea that worked into these. I normally don't reinvent the wheel unless it needs to be reinvented.
