Title: SBF scattershield bellhousing Identification

Could anyone here confirm whether or not this is an early version of a SBF 302, 351 Lakewood bellhousing?  Or is it possibly by another company other than Lakewood, it's evidently more than 30 years old?

Something odd.  Why so many block mounting holes??  Sure that is not an early conversion Bell?

Not sure, I'm hoping someone will recognize it.  It's pitched in an ad as just an old Lakewood for SBF, but the bolt hole arrangement does seem odd.

Not a Lakewood bell per the pic below. Note the flat 'top' to the bell and the lack of so, so many mounting holes. Bet (a poor guess) it's Ansen or some other make.

   Second generation Lakewood after the outer containment  bolts were added.  The latest version Bob posted dropped the upper bolt.

On second thought, I swear it looks more like a first Gen. SBC bell (knew the pointy top looked familiar) :

I wonder if the extra block holes were due to a switch in use?

Chevy with a Ford starter pocket??  Interesting.

I think all the extra holes around the top are containment bolts.

Early SBF blocks only had 5 bolts; then FoMoCo went to six. Might the can shown be for all SBFs?

It could be just that yet I've never seen one like that, given the holes were made at the bell's manufacturing plant and not by say a racer's shop. Only way to tell is if our poster can give us the c-to-c measurements of the six-bolt holes for comparison to SBF block holes.

Thanks all for the input. I'm not in possession of the b.housing, but considering buying it. It's pitched as a 6 bolt SBF by the seller, it's just so odd looking I wanted to try to confirm what it is first. My internet searches haven't helped much on this one.
