I have a bunch of machining bits, all new, in some of the stuff I brought back home. The picture below is just of a few of them to show style and condition
New in cardboard storage tubes, all made by F&D Tool

I have:
- Five 28766 style 982 3/4 inch bridge reamers LH flute (one looks like it was put in a chuck, the rest are untouched)
- Two 5/8 straight flute bridge reamers, new
- One 1/2 straight flute bridge reamer
- Two big drill bits seems to go on mill or equiv, D-256 HS Drill1 1/4 and 1 3/16 Silver and Deming Drill on the label
Then 3 what I think are machine reamers, you can see them lined up, they do not cut on the bottom surface. Sizes are 1 5/16, 1 1/4, and 1 3/8
I think I have more new and used as I dig through the pile, but don't really know what these things are and what they'd be used for.
I apologize that this is skirting the classifieds, but really trying to find out the lingo of what I have so I can offer for sale in the right place or describe on Ebay.

The drills probably aren't worth that much, but the reamers probably are. A good quality reamer the size of what you have are probably at least $100. I would go to the McMaster Carr web site (www.mcmaster.com), the Travers Tool web site, or the Enco site (www.use-enco.com) and see if you can find a match for what you have. That would at least tell you how to describe the tools in an ebay ad.

Sounds like you've got everything identified properly to me and as Jay says, do some shopping to see what they would cost. I've done very very little shopping for cutting tools on Ebay but I think you might have a hard time getting what would seem to be a decent price for such specialized tools. Might be worth a try but be prepared to wait a while for the right buyer to come up with a need for that exact tool. When I still had my shop in my garage I used to pick up quite a few cutting tools at a surplus tool place in town. I think I typically paid about 10% of new prices on most stuff but there is such a huge variety of cutting tools that finding the right ones for a particular application is pretty chancy.
If you happen to have receipts or contact info for the tool rep that sold those to the shop he might be able to help you out. Or if you want to search out other shops that produce similar products to what your dads shop was making they may have some interest in some good tools if the price is right.
By the way the reamers are strictly for precision sizing and finishing of holes. I haven't used any as large as the ones you have, but in our shop to produce for instance a 3/8 hole we'll drill to 23/64 diameter and then ream to an accurate .375 diameter with a smoother finish and much better roundness than is produced by the drill bit. Except a .375 would be pretty rare. More often it would be .3740 or .3745. Or even .3760 or .3765. Seems our customers have little use for a standard sized hole.
