Title: FE's in LA
Post by: TomP on October 29, 2019, 06:31:16 PM
So i'm at LAX airport headed home and the internet is so fast these pix load instantly... unlike the past few days.

Lots of FE's to see at Bakersfield, this is the Falcon I saw at SEMA last fall, a dual quad FE

And some of the selection of FE parts at the swap meet

Then we went to the excellent Galpin Ford collection, the Peterson museum and today the Automobile Driving Museum near the airport.

The Galpin collection is closed to the public but the great guy in there (Chuck Allison) let us in. A whack of Ed Roth cars and more Ford GT's than you shake a stick at , a bunch of the oddest microcars i've seen and several old Galpin sponsored race cars. And a bunch more. Here's a couple FE's in one...

As we saying ta ta, the old unrestored Mooneyes ramptruck (non-Ford though) showed up with the Mooneyes streamliner on the back.

Peterson had a bunch of cars that were not on display last time I was there. The GT40 MarkIII is amazing to see. Just seven were built.

The Shelby SuperSnake looks great... it's in a room with the Oly Baja winning Bronco and a Stroppe 64 Merc.

And then there was the Lions Museum we saw on Thursday...wow... pix of that later.

Nice shots, any pictures of HMS tuning Nitro cars, or giving you a private tour of the "good crews big shop"?

Well , I didn't notice him at the track but then I also didn't have a restricted area pass.
But did talk to him at the museum and he didn't know it was me. Seems like a decent guy on the surface though.

They have a bunch of Stroppe stuff, many personal items that had to come from Stroppe or his family. There must be some connection to "the old shop" or they wouldn't have those things.

Worthwhile place to see. The starting line diorama is just amazing. The Willys collection is about 50 cars, there are a bunch of famous race cars and quite a few nice muscle cars and street rods. The diner is really cool, as are the speed shop, model shop and even the back shop.

Loads of cool Fords... this is in a 49 or 50...

And this just on a stand.

Like my 1964 falcon 427 stroked to 482. Of course mine is not a gasser although my mechanic wanted to make it one. I also won a plaque last week at a car show with well over a 150 cars.

We have plenty of Fe's out here. Cammers in Mustangs, Galaxies , Fairlanes, T Birds and Cobras. Wedges in everything , even in a '57 Chevy. LOL

Yes indeed. Phil Featherston had his TBolt at the track beside a Cammer Mustang... no pics since I only found them Sunday after they were packed in the trailers.

The announcements say the Falcon is a 289 but it was the same car with the FE at SEMA

Lions museum was a very cool place. Lots of FE's too even though it'd be awesome even if there weren't any.

This is the backside of the tower. That guy in the black is Kenny Hirata... he was there with his son Dave and Roland Leong. Three very successful Asian drag racers. The detail in the painting is really good. Easy to tell that is CJ Hart in the hat talking to Mickey Thompson up there.

OK warning here... sensitive viewers may want to avert their gaze as this is not quite FE related the next two pictures.

Thanks to this fine man for getting us in the Lions museum, his car is in there. It's not an FE but still quite a cool car and one of many he has.

He is moving to Arizona from Rolling Hills and we got to check out his almost cleared out place one last time... the ramp truck was used to haul his ProStock Nova and Camaro in 69 and 70... he still has it and both those cars!
