Corrected numbers this time. The closest without going over will win some goodies.
This one should be going on the pump in the next couple weeks. Almost done, just waiting on a couple small pieces to show up.

*Factory 390 crankshaft, .010"/.010"
*Scat H-beam 6.490" rods
*Custom Racetec forged pistons, with a 1/16, 1/16, 3/16 ring pack (no 1.5mm rings available in 4.260")
*9.5:1 compression
*C3-J heads, bronze valve guides, 11/32" SI stainless valves, 2.09"/1.65"
*"J" Sidewinder intake, with the divider modified
*Cam is one of my custom hydraulic rollers, 235/243 @ .050", .620" lift, numbers come out to 109.75 LSA, 105.75 ICL
*Morel standard travel lifters
*Aviaid Cobra oil pan system (10 quarts)
*Recurved factory distributor with Pertronix conversion
*Lykins Motorsports non-adjustable roller rocker arms, HD shafts, POP stands, spacers, and end stands

Are the heads as cast or some modifications? What are the CC's of the heads and style of piston? How big a dome?
Richard >>> FERoadster
-
No dome. 74cc head as measured, 20cc dish piston. Pistons were .015” out, used a .056” Cometic head gasket.
No port work.
-
No head porting then... So a nail head valve or a tulip valve on the intake? 45 degree deal!?

I would encourage everyone to scroll through the dyno results section. I have both 428CJ and 427MR engines up there to compare off of. There have been some very liberal guesses lol

How about 490 HP
And 495 Torque.

I'll guess 522 horsepower.

I think 436 was a little low but not much.
I will guess 444hp.
I think the dyno will spite you some power for using a hydraulic cam in a 427. And if the distributor has a vacuum advance that will cost you another 20hp.

Ok here is the Gonkulator, this is with stock c3ae-j head castings, just a good valve job 2 x 31 OPEN headers. Collector length makes a big difference. With a 6" collector the Gonk says:
Torq 480 at 4200
Powr 483 at 5900
It wants a longer collector - do you know the header / collector lengths?

445 hp and 495lb/ft torque. I know you didn't ask for torque, but the relatively low compression ratio will affect it more than it will the hp, in my opinion. The 9.5:1 compression peaked my interest since it is lower than most performance builds. Torque is a product of displacement, volumetric efficiency, and compression ratio. That compression ratio should work with 87 octane in most vehicles.

I am pretty sure Brent already knows what it is going to make within 10 hp or so. :)

459 hp. You are definitely messing with us with these all over the map combos.
Someone will win. Then you will have to come up with your next devious plan.

I think guys are reading too much into this one. Low riser heads. Sidewinder. 431 cubes. Decent hydraulic roller. It won't be a barnburner. Going to the UK for a Cobra replica. Should look the part, including the remote oil filter, chrome pentroofs, Aviaid pan, turkey pan, etc.
I've got 5 other FE's to dyno, including a 496, two more 427's, a 428, and a 440 ci road race engine. There will be plenty of other opportunities for the guessing game.

That happens a lot on these guessing games. I wonder where some people come up with the numbers.
Stock LR heads and mild cam and compression will keep it pretty tame. I haven't looked at anyone elses guess, but mine is...
435 hp

Yes sometimes I overthink it but I like to give the big three builders 15 to 20 horse just because there building it (blueprinting and little tricks). Then even though it a hydraulic it is a roller so i like to think 10 to 15 horse there. Some of these new ring packages are worth 5 to 10 horse. Better carburation and properly curved dizzy.10 to 15. Im not sure how the compression is going to kill it. Single carb 427 stock was 410HP and probably 25 HP underated. That being said I am alittle high.

Thanks to you, Kirk Fichter, and downtown Jay Brown! Heads from you, block and crank from Kirk, and intake from Jay.

How about 451 hp @ 5500 with 476 lb-ft of torque? Uneventful day, clean filter, good power, nice little engine.
-
I did not win but would like honorable mention for being within 8 hp,
-
Allrightmike and Joe Craine got the closest, within 1 hp. Unfortunately, Joe went over by 1 hp.
Looks like allrightmike was the winner.
Mike, shoot me an email with your address and I'll send you a few goodies.

What a nice engine, basically outgunned dual quad 427 from the day with a single 4 and a hyd roller cam...should be a rocket in a Cobra!

Wow, I was close.
