Ready to buy a distributor for my 427 .20 over, 282s cam, performer rpm, 750 holley, 66 Fairlane 4 sp, 389 rear gears, street driven. Not sure what brand is best and would appreciate some suggestions.

In my limited experience, the MSD Pro-Billet dist is the one if you're not concerned with originality. It performs reliably, the advance curve can be adjusted easily and looks good too. Pair that with their 6AL box and you're good to go!

+1 on the MSD billet distributor.

Well yes the MSD is excellent, but is a bit spendy if the budget is thin.
A redone Duraspark will do very nice and keep the budget in check.
Even a stock Dist convert to a Pertronix and good coil will do yeoman duty.
Just another option.
I've run all of these without any issues.

^^ I went the "cheapie" route with the stock + Petronix. No reliability issues so far but I do might miss the mechanical advance adjustment, rpm limiter and other options available on the more pricey units.
My2c.

Thanks for the responses I ordered a MSD. The motor is almost finished, I probably won't put it in the car till spring. Planning on going to the reunion on 4/27 looking forward to meeting some FE owners.
