Title: New 4.22 x 3.98 (bore/stroke) engine. Performance upgrade suggestions?

4.53" bore spacing. Cross bolts, forged crank, VVT.
Looks like a modern FE.
Long tube headers, for one, what else could be done?

Ideas?

What could be adapted to the FE? VVT, variable pressure oil pump?  Valve train geometry/parts (tall beehive springs)? Chamber ideas? Revised aftermarket block bottom end design to incorporate the main caps?

I thought it was the 6.2 that was 4.53 and the new 7.3 expanded that to 4.63?

Article says 4.53...same as the 6.2 l with OHC. So one performance option, pretty involved, might be to turn this modern-day FE into a SOHC?

The 6.2 SOHC, used in the last gen Raptor and in the current Super Duty, is an outstanding engine and has been hot rodded.  Quite impressive power numbers in NA form.  It is, in many ways, quite similar to the 427 SOHC.  If I were building a modern day Cobra, I'd consider the 6.2 over the FE unless you just had to have the FE for the purists.

The 7.3 looks to be another outstanding example of Ford's dominance in powertrain development.  I don't see how it could be described as a modern day FE unless you want to include all examples of V8 engines.  I think it is for sure worthy of implanting into older body styles.  It has the displacement, the durability and the hot rodding potential in a modern pushrod package.

The selling point of the 7.3 (445) is that it is a compact engine, able to be fit into many more engine bays than the 6.2 with its wide OHC heads.

I see bore spacing is listed as 115mm, 4.527" Somewhere a few months ago an article stated the 6.2 bore space was increased to make the 7.3. So maybe just deck height?
 The bore is 4.22" and stroke is 3.976"... very FE-ish.
