Title: Finally got the short block assembled and fitted. On to final assembly tomorrow.

My 428 and new heads. I think I'll make better power and pump gas friendly.

Is that paint or some kind of coating on the chambers?

I had  2.90- 1.75 valves, unshrouding and a bit of clean up in the bowl. I also had the springs changed as the Edelbrock singles  had varied seat and open pressures. I can only assume it is a machinist dye.
I have always seen blue, never red in the past.
