An interesting side note, my mother liked how Garry Moore spelled his name. As a result my first name is spelled the same as his, with 2 r`s. Been a pain in the a** for legal things since.

As a kid I would sneak behind the tv & look at the guts through the ventilation holes. All the glowing filaments. I could hardly fathom there were people smart enough to make it happen. Same thing with the moon shot. All done with slide rules. BTW, Winston tastes good...like a cigarette should.

Earlier in the morning you could only get an adjustment 'star' much like a crosshair reticle in a rifle scope. Here in the Detroit area we got three channels. I believe there was an antenna on the roof of the house. That would have been in the late '40s.

Probably around 1980 I got to stay up and watch the national anthem with the jet planes followed by the color stripes and the long beep.
