My time is coming soon enough when I will get these "helpful" reminders.
Enjoy......

That's interesting. I was born in 53 and missed the history. I do remember that show later on. An interesting side note, my mother liked how Garry Moore spelled his name. As a result my first name is spelled the same as his, with 2 r`s. Been a pain in the a** for legal things since.

Born in 47.
My grandpa and grandma used to tell me stories of riding to Oklahoma in a horse drawn wagon to make the land run.

I was born in '66. I'm probably the fringe here.

Primitive analog tv is just awesome. It took an unbelievable amount of engineering to make that happen. As a kid I would sneak behind the tv & look at the guts through the ventilation holes. All the glowing filaments. I could hardly fathom there were people smart enough to make it happen. Same thing with the moon shot. All done with slide rules. BTW, Winston tastes good...like a cigarette should.

Yes! We had Zenith TV's. I had to get my ass off the floor turn the channel, Adjust the "Rabbit ears" to tune channels in. These millennials have NO idea!

When I could first see TV (at my Uncle's House) it came on at noon. Earlier in the morning you could only get an adjustment 'star' much like a crosshair reticle in a rifle scope. Here in the Detroit area we got three channels. I believe there was an antenna on the roof of the house. That would have been in the late '40s.

Being born in 1974 reading your responses makes me think I was behind the times. The crosshair does sound familiar sinse you mentioned it. Probably around 1980 I got to stay up and watch the national anthem with the jet planes followed by the color stripes and the long beep.
