Ok here is a stupid question.
I am installing a hydroboost conversion and had to order metric to AN adapters.
On one of the order pages it stated that crush washers were required.
I have used AN fitting before but never had to use the adapters.
My question is do I need these crush washers?
I don't think I need them on the o-ring seals or the tapered adapters but am not sure on the flat adapters.
I want to get this right because after I get the engine and headers in I will have to pull the engine to get to any leak's. This is for a 429 in a 71 Ranchero CJ.
Thanks
Greg

Crush washers are normally only used on banjo fittings in the brake system, and are copper/brass. Any flare fitting does not require a crush washer. Unless you have an oddball fitting, most have an interference fit or swedge fit. More specific information might get more responses. Joe-JDC

Hi Joe
Thanks for the reply.
The car is a 71 Ranchero 429 CJ.
I am about ready to install the new engine but have done some updates to the car.
I changed out the factory power steering to the borgeson intergal box to get rid of all the old steering parts hanging under the car.
I have all so changed out the power brakes to Hydroboost.
The reason for my question is I had to buy metric to AN adapters in order to run my power steering lines.
I have used the AN fittings on my race cars but never had to use these metric adapters.
When I ordered my adapters from summitt the order page said the crush washers were required.
All the adapters have a flare or an o ring fitting so I wondered why I would need crush washers on these fittings so though I would ask the experts.
I can't see any reason for the washers but I don't know everything so thought i would ask.
