Title: Mid engine vette
Post by: chilly460 on July 22, 2019, 09:13:22 AM
I’m sure most have seen this, but in case not, the mid engine corvette was unveiled.  Any mention of Chevrolet usually brings derision to the board, but the way I see it, the US manufacturers are all on the same team nowadays and need all the help they can get.  This is a big leap forward for GMs halo car.  Buddy at work has a C7 stingray, it’s too small to be comfortable and he drives like a ninny, but I will say that the car hauls ass and seems pretty livable.  The new vette is 495hp for the standard model, should be a screamer

I have to say that, in that price range, nothing will be able to touch the C8 Corvette.  The specs look to be in V8 Ferrari land (though it's longer and porkier).

It's very impressive.  The only problem will be trying to get one at less than $20K over MSRP for the first year  >:( >:(

I've never been a huge Corvette fan, but I have owned a few because it's hard to beat the price vs performance of modern Vettes. I will try and avoid going on a rant, but GM I must admit has a better process for ordering a car than many others these days which is another factor for me.

The buying frenzy I'm sure will make the mid-engine car way over-priced for a while. It's still a cool piece of engineering and still powered by an evolution of the same engine they ran in the 50's which is pretty cool too.

I think the LS is more an engineering evolution of Ford engines.  Bore spacing, shaft rockers, cross bolts, symmetrical ports, 4 evenly spaced head bolts, etc.

The LS is what Ford would have done if they decided to stay in the past.  I am glad Ford moved on.

Funny, the shop I have used, says same, the LS is very much like a Ford in layout. It seems pretty much a clean sheet design, a real break from the old SBC design.  The new "vette" is probably the last, all engineering at GM is focused on electric, and autonomous vehicles.

The low price will kill it. GM needed to only make 1 or 2 hundred, price them over $250k and make you apply for the opportunity to maybe get one. But wait, you can buy two of these, just pay a separate fee.  The bang for the buck is unbelievable on this car.

chibrolets are just like belly-buttons. Everybody has one. I've always wanted to go my own way. It's Ford for me. Have any of you talen a look at a Superlite GT-R? You'll find them to be of interest.
