Title: Exhaust valve to bore clearance 4.155 bore.
Post by: 67428GT500 on July 18, 2019, 11:44:29 PM
I mocked up the Edelbrock heads on the block.  I have the springs off, with a spring retainer and and keepers. The valve will move about .800 before the bottom of the retainer bottoms out on the guide. At that point I have .050 clearance between the cylinder wall and the side of the exhaust valve at the above mentioned specs. There is no head gasket installed, however the Felpro 1020 is .041 compressed.
My cam is 5.76 lift.  Do all concur that the .050 is sufficient bore to valve clearance on the exhaust valve?
The 2.19 intakes have a ton of cylinder wall to valve clearance. I was surprised.

.050 is fine, and with less lift and deflection, you will gain from there. Might be a good idea to check all 8 though.

Add the gasket and it will go way up.
You are fine

Okay, okay, okay...  Forgive my paranoia.  Now if someone will answer my question on the King Trimetal bearings so I can order them so I have them Monday and can get this thing back in the car.
