I'm looking for a very nice set of "baldie" valve covers. I want a set that isn't beat up or rusted bad, so that I can have them chrome plated. They can be the early '58-'59 painted style, or the later 427 chrome versions, as long as they are in nice shape.

I know they reproduce them, but the quality isn't so good on them....using thin metal and really cheap chrome, so I want a set of original covers.
Willing to trade or pay cash.

Just bought a pair of those aftermarkets, they don’t seem to bad they don’t have that raised reinforcement we’re the bolts go through.  They are thicker than I thought they were going to be. I think I’m gonna send out my originals that are on there now. Let’s see how yours come out. Do you have someone in mind.

I hadn't researched a place for the plating, but I have some links saved to research, plus a friend who restores '50s-'60s cars has had lots of stuff done and I was going to ask him. Figured I better try and find a pair first..lol

Joe, how does the plating seem on your re-pops? How do the gasket ledges compare to your originals, in terms of strength? I hate cheap covers that bend badly when tightened down.

I have set with ford on them, no breather or fill caps holes. I assume that's a baldie unless that means no lettering. No dents one has a tiny ding. $75.00 plus the ride

Sorry for the goofy sales link (only picture I could find quick), but do they look like this?

I was looking for the no-name versions, but I think I'd be happy with those as well. Any way you could post or email me a picture of them?

That is what they look like Ill send or post pics tonight. I blasted them and painted them yrs ago looks like something spilled on the paint and stained them.

The plating ain’t bad in the important places. Around the bottom edges it’s shiny but plating looks thinner. Pm me your cell phone number and I will send you some pics. I just put new stickers on them yesterday. My original ones are still in pretty good shape but have some very minor pit marks that I can’t get out. When I was a kid (17)  I put them on and did an oil change and went to put oil in it and was like now what .so I took valve cover off and put an oil hole in it. Well my dad wasn’t to happy. I had an F427 intake on it so no oil fill. There were original 428 city valve overs from my uncles stang on there. Who knew???

Joe, LOL, there's plenty of things I did at a young age that I could kick myself for now.

Not to hijack, but the F427 I have has an oil fill hole. They must have had a couple iterations?

Yes they do as a matter of fact I think there is a post about that not to long ago. I remember opening the can and didn’t know what to do.?

I'm guessing this might have been before quarts had lids. There was probably a push in spout in operation........

On a side note, with the ever growing focus on being "green" doesn't the old cardboard and tin quarts make more sense? Both take less energy to recycle than plastic and 1 is a renewable resource and they're just a lot cooler than modern plastic. I still have a big basket of spouts from when my Grandfather had all his service stations and a few cases of oil too.

Once again, I couldn't see the forest for the trees. I misread his post. I thought he meant he opened a "can of worms" in the other thread and didn't know what to do. ::)  I do have some of those quarts of oil on the shelf unopened that require the pour spout.......

The plastic bottles started to come out in about 1985 or so at least we’re I live. It made the cases smaller and lighter. Yeah had a million of the push in spouts.

Doug: are you looking for true Baldy VC's or block letter FORD? Also multiple sets of Thunderbird.
I've got multiple sets of either.
I was away for 5 weeks so kind of got out of the loop.
