I was just wondering if the gentleman that usually makes the video of the reunion is making one this year. I didn’t get to go this year so was curious if one was coming out.
-
Sorry to say that I won't be posting anything this year.
I know that folks who can't be there look forward to it.
The wind was so strong and noisy that it totally overrode the mic on the cheesy little camera that I use, and the wind was blowing me around so that I couldn't hold the camera halfway steady.
Nothing that I shot was usable, so I won't be attempting to make a video this year.
A couple other things played into my decision as well: The Facebook public page has much, much better photos and a bunch of videos as well. Viewers get the benefit of seeing the perspective of
numerous folks with cameras.
Also, no matter what I post on YouTube, there is always some critic(s) wanting something different. Gets old.....
I gave it a try for a while, but everything I shot with my little point 'n shoot was pretty much poo.
If you haven't taken a look at the Facebook page, I suggest that you take a peek, it is a public page so you don't need to log in with a Facebook account (I don't have an account and I look at it) to just browse what the people put up.
Sorry!

Thanks for answering hvywrench, for what it’s worth I think you have done a great job on all the other videos. Thanks for all your previous work.!!!
-
I also appreciate the videos you have done but understand why this year was really not a good situation. I took one cell phone video of a friends run and the wind noise was obnoxious. Also understand about the critics :( That’s a shame as you took the time to stick in the stands while they wonder around to see and do as they please to enjoy the day....

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
I tried a couple times to cover the camera mic but it didn't really help.
I don't want to put up something that is miserable to watch... amateur is ok, but muddy and shaky is a no go.
I am aware that there are a lot of people that live too far away to make it and I actually enjoyed the process and could overlook 'most' of the critics. In the past I tried to get something up that was watchable for the FE fans that didn't make it.
Not to be this year.
I feel for you drivers that fought that wind, trying to get a repeatable number and get the car to go straight.
Aw well, I'll see what next year brings. (And the Trans Am race at Lime Rock is just around the corner!)

Thanks Doug that should hold me for a while. Sounds great, shifting sounds great.

Car sounds good, Doug! Thanks for the vid.
Bill, I appreciate all the previous vids. I have never been able to attend, so any footage from the event is welcome.

Thanks for the ride Doug

Is it still the old 427 or is the the new engine?
-
That's still the old engine, Heo. A stock 427 with a little extra cam, nothing special. If it were the new one, you'd see it sticking out of the hood. :)

Man that's a cool video Doug. Car sounds good.

Your car really honks on Doug. Nice, nice ride!

Not that i know your engine better than you. But by the sound on the video
it sounds like it would have pulled a few hundred rpm higher. Playing it safe or ?
Not trying to tell you how to drive just asking.

Heo, the engine is done making power at 6000, so I have the shift light set at 6500. I did short shift into 4th though. Maximum torque comes in at 4500, so not sure if I'd gain anything by shifting higher than I did. I need more test and tune time to know for sure. To be honest, I hardly ever look at the tach or light, just shift by ear. It likely would run a bit better, shifting higher, but I admit to not wanting to hurt the engine, being all stock sideoiler block, crank and heads. Undamaged/unmodified 427 MR stuff is getting tough to find these days.

Heo they were running the 1/8 mile. I thought the same thing till I remember them saying cause of the wind they were running the 1/8. Could have went a little higher in 3rd but I don’t think enough that it would have made much difference. I agree taking care of the motor is wise. I also have an original 63 block and can’t afford a new one so I shift 3 to 400 rpms lower than motor will turn. By the way doing that made my car faster.

Yes i understand dont want to risking blow up the engine. You dont buy
a new one from Summit.
