Some of you have access to parts catalogues that I do not have access to any more. I am porting my personal cylinder heads for a 292 Y Block, and I have Ferrea 5/16" valves with conventional 7* lock grooves, and I have been trying to find a titanium retainer for use with beehive springs. The beehive spring I used in my EMC engine last year worked perfectly with 11/32" stems and beehive springs (CC 29618-16). Comp Cams 788-16 retainer, but it does not work with 5/16" stems, and Comp Cams suggests part number 762-16, but they don't furnish keepers or make them for 5/16" valves. Do any of you have experience with the beehive/5/16" valves? If so what part number do you use for locks and retainers. I will buy 10*/7*/7* super locks if they will work. Titanium would be better. I also need a part number for 5/16" radial lock for a titanium retainer for same beehive spring for another set of heads. Any ideas? Thanks, Joe-JDC

Let me ask this question another way. Can I use a super 7* lock for 5/16" valve with a retainer for 11/32" valve spring? Has anyone actually tried this? I hate to buy locks and retainers just to experiment and have them sit because they are not returnable---especially titanium. Joe-JDC

Joe, I use 5/16” stem valves with beehives all the time. Shoot me an email with exactly what you have and I can help.

As mentioned above: Comp Cams 26918-16 valve springs, Comp Cams 788-16 Titanium retainers, and I am changing to 5/16" valve stems with traditional lock grooves on one set of valves, and radial locks on another set of valves. I need a set of titanium retainers, and preferably a set of titanium locks for the 26918-16 valve springs, and another set of titanium retainers and bead locks for the second set of heads with 5/16" valves. Use the 788 retainers for both. Use a PAC L8148 lock for the square groove and an L8150 for the bead lock groove.
I don't see the need for a titanium lock, but if your heart so desires, call Victory Valves for those.

Thanks, I will check it out. Just trying to save all the weight I can on valvetrain. Joe-JDC
