Title: What did my 428 come out of?
Post by: happystang on April 09, 2019, 10:06:01 PM
I'm curious, any way to tell what my 428 came out of? I can't find a VIN stamped anywhere on it.

C6ME-A
6M14 date code
"A" scratch on back
1U crank

Most likely a 1967 full sized Ford, Mercury, or Thunderbird. Whan are the head casting numbers, which will most likely have only the 2 bolt vertical exhaust bolt pattern.

thats my blocks im using.mine are out of 66 thunderbirds.they are good blocks in my opion.the last one i took to the shop, the crank did not need turned.shop owner said it would last me a lifetime.the block did not even need bored but we freshened it up to .30 over because i already had pistons this size.we put arp studs in the rods and mains.good engines imo

My 1967 Shelby used the C6ME block with the A scratch on the rear.
