Title: Oil fill tube removal

Anyone know a good way to remove oil fill tubes from older FE intakes?

i pulled one out with my slide hammer and vice grip attachment.
course I wasn't wanting to reuse it, so there is that.

You can heat up the area around the tube with a torch.  If it is an aluminum intake it will be easier because aluminum expands more than steel, so it will get loose in there pretty fast.  I would try it with a propane torch; put a vise grip on the tube, heat the manifold at the base, and pull 'er out.  I have used an oxy-acetylene torch for this in the past, but the propane torch would probably work too.

Thanks guys,  I tried a combination of both suggestions........borrowed the neighbors slide hammer and applied a little propane heat and it was out in four taps.......

Are those oil fill tubes just a press fit in the manifold then?  If so, what keeps 'em from leaking on a runnin engine?

Yes, they are just a press fit.  I'm not sure of the factory used some kind of sealer when they were installed or not, but that would keep them from leaking.  The press fit by itself might be good enough too.
