The pumps don't come with fittings. However, you can use the 5/16 or 3/8 nipple.

There should be brass threaded fittings on the aluminum housing.

A Carter X pump #4254S has 3/8 NPT on both in and out ports.

I just installed an Edelbrock mechanical fuel pump on my 428- it had holes for 3/8" NPT fittings.

I used the Edelbrock too because the Carter was putting out 9LB of pressure and blowing the needles off the seat. The threads on the Edelbrock are horrid. I had to chase the threads.

If you can use a 30 gallon per hour pump with a spin on fuel filter get one for a 391 truck engine. They are $25-$40. Some will have a 3/8" intake nipple pressed into the body and sometimes one on the out going side, depends on the brand. From what I have seen there is a higher failure rate compared to Carter or Holley.
