Jay whats your opinion on the oil relief valve? Take it out or leave in.
-
If you've got it, I'd leave it in. I don't think there's a good reason to take it out, although with modern oil pumps it is a little redundant.
-
I just went through my center oiler 427 this past summer .I have always used the pressure relief valve in the past .This time around i replaced the spring with one from doug at precision oil pumps .Like Jay says probably redundant but it doesnt hurt a thing as long as properly installed .Doug

I ordered one from Doug last Friday. Thanks for your help.

I have a Spring from Doug and a brand new Ford spring still in it's org box.
They are not the same spring.
The Doug spring is a little thicker and does not quite fit on the shoulder of the spool valve, perfectly.
The Ford spring, well is perfect. lol
Without testing I can not say how much the Doug spring will vent at, but bigger springs normally vent at higher pressures.

That figures, nothing I do is easy lol. So whats next? I don't have a ford spring my block did not have a valve or spring.

I think the Doug spring would be fine.
It would be like shimming the spring for say 5 psi extra, maybe 10.
Just putting up the info that I have found about this.
