Title: Jet extensions
Post by: Stangman on December 29, 2018, 09:06:57 PM
Just curious on quick fuel 750s which jet extensions would I use. I was looking and it looked like some need a different float. I don’t really want to do that.

problematic on the QFT dual quads.  Side pivot floats don't take well to extensive cutting....

I have jet extensions on my 1850's.  I run the black plastic floats and have cut the humps into the bottoms to clear the extensions.  Been that way forever.  Only comment is you might have to watch putting the bowl on to make sure things don't get bound up.  Never been a problem, but I rattle the carb to confirm once it's together.

Did you seal up the cutting section with something?  The alky in pump gas will degrade an unsealed nitrophyl float over time.

Nope, nadda.  Just ground clearance and bolted them on.  Didn't think it would be anything different on the inside as the outside?

Granted it doesn't see anything but race gas.  I've never done the hot rods?  The blue truck has med riser 2x4 with 1850's on it.  But never put extensions on it as it is not "fast" enough to warrant them.  The blower car has 660's sideways on it.
