So in my never end build. I came across an article in the new Hot Rod magazine about Alternators. Just as I was doing that very thing.
Bought all the parts List in the magazine article. What an easy install !! the alternator holds voltage even at an idle (800 rpm)
cant say enough about Delmar Wire!! Easy to order and got all the connectors in 3 days during Christmas time from California to Florida
If anyone is looking to upgrade or just replace a worn out alternator do this swap you will NOT ever regret it
As Usual I a having computer problem connecting my phone to get Pictures. I'll work on that. Get he latest copy of Hot Rod has all the info

Awesome to hear.
I've had a 3g alt, wiring parts, and v belt pullet sitting on the shop bench for about two years. I've been meaning to use them on my daily driver 76 F100 and just haven't gotten around to it.

I installed a 135 amp 3G at the same time as I strung the new wire harness. Ran the exciter wire through the factory bulb to the regularor. I need to file down the back some (maybe .010") to clear the head. Right now it is running with a washer behind it.

$45 plus $15 "core" out of the wrecking yard here. The closest has a 40' container full that you can sort through. Easy wire up (I use a 5 wire hookup) and easy to rebuild. Hundreds of rounds on the one in the door car. Even the small case is just a bit too big for the dragster. When we got the F-350 DRW home, that was the first change - toss the 2G stocker for a 3G and a 100A in line breaker. The 2G could barely support the truck with everything running. The only "mod" I do is sometimes tap out the lower mount to 3/8-16 thread. Stock units are metric thread, and who can ever find their 10mm wrench or socket.

Russ, I'm curious, what ever became of the Mustang after the roll-over? That was an awesome car. Good to see you making steady progress on the Fairlane.

WOW great memory Doug! Its sitting in the garage next to the fairlane going to be my retirement project in 3 or so years unless some crazy guy offers me a bunch of money !!! Tried to find you at drag week 2018 but never seemed to run into you my loss

I dropped out after the first day, due to several reasons. My son had to leave due to a mandatory evacuation from the hurricane that hit where he lives in NC, The rear main started leaking pretty bad since it was the only seal I didn't replace ::) (I actually went through 8 gallons of oil during the trip down and back), and I didn't mention it, but I had injured my back on the drive down and it was starting to hurt pretty bad. By the end of the 1st day I could barely bend over. It laid me up and I could barely move for the rest of the week when I got back. I guess it just wasn't meant to be this year.
Glad to hear you held on to the Mustang, and I hope it sees the road again someday.
