I think you've already answered your question in the second pic.

And, since everything is back-ass around here down under, that's why we have the steering wheels on the right side of the car.

Those are pretty mild cams for an SOHC.  They would compare to a standard FE cam that is around 240 @ .050".  What compression ratio are you going to run with those?  I don't think you'd want to go much more than 10:1 with those cams.  Do you have a horsepower target Adam?

The 427 fits in and looks like they belong there, I know cause I have one in my 56 F100. I had to remove the frt spring rear crossmember and refab it for clearence for my tranny and header clearence. The rear window kit fits nicely except the rear chrome is not quite right but some work will make it fit. I plan on installing one in my 56 cabover soon too,

jay what company do you use for sohc pistons i need to get 4.35 bore by 4.25 stroke pistons

I've had pistons both from Diamond and from CP.  I like them both, but Diamond is faster and cheaper, and they make a real nice slug, so I would recommend them.

jay is cometic the only head gasket choice

A lot of people just use a Fel-Pro 1020 and modify it for the oil drainback hole.  If you aren't using an oil drainback hole in the block, in other words if you are using drain lines from the head down to the pan, any stock FE head gasket will work.  If you are draining into the hole in the block like a normal cammer, you can cut a hole in the Fel-Pro gasket for the drain hole.  The gasket won't go completely around the drain hole in the block but you can cut another small piece off a junk head gasket to fill in the area around the drain hole, and just use sealer to hold it in place.  Or, you can get a Cometic head gasket.
