Friend buys a lot of stuff from the junk table at Summit Racing. He had this and told me about it. Yup, I'll take it. I put it on the wagon, thus I can take the '77 T bird stuff and put on the black car(everyone gives me grief over the stock single master cylinder and drum brakes).
Existing T bird brakes with Hawk brake pads. Worked pretty good actually.

Thanks Chris for the spindles. After a quick hot tank and bead blasting a coat of black paint made them look brand new again

Brackets attached to spindles. Fit really well, didn't have to shim them at all

4 piston calipers
(https://i.postimg.cc/qR1Vg19k/IMG-20181027-182934828.jpg)
All steel rotors, drilled/slotted. They are HEAVY!!! Just like stock. This is not the dynalite model.

All assembled, just had to buy a new fitting to attach my existing braided line to the caliper. I have them slightly bled, not quite perfect yet.

I may pull the rotors and install long studs to match what I had previously.
Pretty happy with it, can't wait to try them out next year. Only have 7 months to wait..... :o
I also have new front tires for it, as they were down to wanting let the air show throught LOL! Not quite, but I knew this was the last season on them. I have a pair in the basement I bought 2 yrs ago with a coupon I had.

Must be nice living that close to Summit..lol
Looks nice, Larry. Getting away from that single pot master was a good thing to do.
-
Yes, it definitely has its advantage being this close.
I upgraded the wagon like 20 yrs ago. I suppose it's time for the black car? It got all new parts back when I put it together in 97. It stops fine, but I'll agree it does have a bit of fade to them if you do try to be too aggressive with it. Thus I learned not to.
The Hawk racing pads I used on the wagon really helped it over stock type pads.

Twenty something (maybe more like thirty by now) Years ago, we decided to put Wilwood brakes on Brother Lon's '67 Mustang. They advised us that they had rotors and hats available to fit the spindles, but no brackets to to attach the calipers. We got what Wilwood had, and cobbled up a pair of brackets. Then the toolroom at T&C Livonia converted the fabbed steel brackets to some very nice aluminum reproductions. We gave the originals to Wilwood so they could replicate them. I got a magazine article out of the exercise, Lon got Wilwood brakes, and Wilwood got a pattern. Everybody won!

Everybody around here but me has been to the Arlington store. I can never seem to find the time lately to get out of town. Maybe after football season.
Nice set of brakes, should work very well!

I remember when Summit was just a little store, smaller then a typical Autozone is currently. It was the first "store front' when they moved out of the home garage that started it all. This was like 1990? Friend bought all the parts to back half his T bird. We were able to walk to the back warehouse area to pick out some of the parts. They then moved to the current "new" location about 1/4 mile east off Rt 76. It's only about a 15 minute drive for me.
Now there is what, 4 locations? Had a few friends that worked for Summit in the early days. As it grew, the management changed and all the "old timers" were pushed out and new, cheaper help was brought in. I thought I had one of there early catalogs from the late 80's, but it's seems to have disappeared. Was a thick book, yellow pages, had a hand drawn ladies bust on the front, wearing a red shirt with Summit Racing across the front. Real 80's novelty.

I have a friend that works for Summit and they have supported us well over the years. But Jegs also does real well. All the methanol compatible hose and fittings on the dragster came from Jegs as it was easier to find the fittings and hose - and it was cheaper - than finding same at Summit. So I bounce around some.
-
Jegs is two hours south in Columbus, Ohio so Summit is always my first try. I can't remember the last thing I bought at Jegs? Been decades.
Summit supports our stick racing group, so I typically have gift cards to use. Jegs was a sponsor for a couple years way back, but we did not get the support we get from Summit. Summit puts thousands of dollars in every year.

Looks good. I'm very interested in the Wilwood disc brake kit. I also have the stock manual jelly jar and drums on my '64.

I have that exact same Wilwood front disc brake kit that I bought for my 59 2 door sedan. On the instructions, is says from 1960 and newer, but on the Wilwood site, it does list that same part number for 57-59 Ford cars as well. You can get the aluminum calipers in a few different colors (mine are black), and the rotors are also available solid or drilled /slotted, I chose solid. Like Larry said, I was suprised how heavy the box was, but other than the very light aluminum calipers, everything else is pretty sturdy & heavy. You CAN buy lightweight rotors and hubs, but I think this kit is more oriented for street and heavy race cars.Wilwood also make kits for these cars that have much bigger rotors and calipers for people that want that.
As for Summit vs Jegs, both are very far away from me, both have similar pricing, and free shipping, I typically buy from Summit, as they "spread the wealth" around, sponsoring NHRAs ET Bracket programs, and numerous race cars, both Professional and Sportsman. Jegs does sponsor quite a few race cars, but only for the Coughlin family it seems. And although I have never had any problems with Summit myself, I have heard from several people that did have an issue with parts they bought from Summit, the company seems to have an excellent reputation for correcting the problem. Gotta like that!
I do understand that Jegs does sponsor some race series, like Sportnationals and Super Quick, but those are all way too far away for me to attend.

You can also get polished aluminum calipers. The Summit catalog doesn't list them but they can get them.
-
Did some looking, the drill/slotted kit is $675. I got this for $350. I'm doing good.

Do these move the center line of the rims outward? I'd love to do this conversion on my 66, but I'm concerned about the spacing and don't want to buy new wheels.
-
Don`t know about the wheel track width changing, but since this setup retains the original spindles, I doubt that it would be very much, if at all.

The old kits did. About 3/4 inch I think. The newer kits don't change it.

Does come with 1/4" spacer for back spindle bearings. Apparently the rotor is thinner then the Ford spindle. Don't think it moved tire anything drastic, if at all.

It would be in my best interest if the track were narrowed a little. The American Racing wheels that I have on it barely have enough backspace.

Looking att where the flange for the wheel is in relation to the wheel bearing
i would say the trackwidth is prety much stock

I have one of those catalogs too,but the cover is LONG gone.

I installed Wildwood disc all around on my Torino and it made a very noticeable improvement over the OEM style disc/drum combination.

Hey, Barry---
Is that the same Wildwood where you come to the church?? ;)
