Been doing some reading about these hyd bearings for my 427 Cobra, with a new Tremic TKO 600, Ram Billet fly and dual disk. So whr do some people not like them versus a manual throw out ?

I can`t speak for everybody, but when my buddy was building his Shell Valley Cobra years ago, he had the Toploader in & out several times, dealing with leaks with a McLeod hydraulic throwout bearing. He eventually did get it all squared away and it worked fine afterwards. I own and have owned Fords with all 3 styles of clutch actuation, cable, hydralic, and mechanical, and personally, I much prefer the feel and operation of a good mechanical linkage. It just feels more direct and solid. Plus unlike the cable and hydraulic setups, heat from the headers and exhaust system is a non issue. When I converted my Fairmont drag car from an automatic, to a Jerico 4 speed, I made my own mechanical clutch linkage for the FE, I currently have a factory FOX cable clutch setup in the car, while I have the small block Ford in the car, but I recently bought a different mechanical clutch linkage from an EX FE Super Stock racers FOX Mustang that I will be trying when I fit the 427 back in over the winter. Likely not a concern with a street car, but I find hydraulic clutch linkage a bit slow in releasing during WOT power shifting.
