Title: Stock Iron Adjustable Rocker Strength?
Post by: Marx427 on September 21, 2012, 01:17:00 AM
How much spring pressure will standard iron rocker arms using Precision Oil Pump end and center stands with DSC HD shafts withstand?

I got a wild hair late last night and purchased a set of Survivals hydraulic rollers for my 428 project....couldn't resist the sale price any longer.

Will probably be using a cam with around .600/650 lift .       Was planning to use a solid flat tappet till now , but now I'll have to upgrade the standard pieces I have.

I was using standard rockers on my 468s roller with no problems, but that cam is only 528 lift with 330 lb springs. Have since installed Dove rollers on the 468 as extra insurance.

So, just how much will Fords irons take?

I think they'll probably take up to 450 pounds spring pressure without a problem; certainly at least 400.  With a hydraulic roller I don't think you'll have an issue with them.

Thanks Jay,  That's just what I was hoping to hear.
